What Is Static Unbalance? – Universal Balancing

Speak with an Expert

Static unbalance of a rotor is a condition where its principle axis is displaced parallel to its rotational axis.

Commonly, disc type rotors with diameters substantially greater than its width, are balanced in a single plane to correct the static unbalance. If the said rotor has wobble from side to side (swash), then this rotor will have couple unbalance and possibly static unbalance as well.

Static Unbalance can be measured on a machine that does not rotate (Static) or it can be measured on a dynamic balance machine which rotates.

Universal Balancing offer a range of static and dynamic balancing machines and training courses for various types of roles in industry. All courses are delivered to training best practices and are designed to fit individual needs. Contact us to discuss how we can help increase the balancing knowledge of you or your team.
