Ascential Technologies Appoints Divisional CEO to Specialty Industrial Division

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 16, 2024 – Ascential Technologies, a provider of automated diagnostic, inspection and test equipment and services across a wide range of industries, has appointed Scott Watts as the divisional CEO of its Specialty Industrial division. This division includes the company’s Transportation division, better known within the automotive industry as Burke Porter and its General Industries line of businesses. The two are among divisions that encompass 45 global offices and 2300 employees across 25 countries.  

In his new role, Watts will provide leadership for the execution of Specialty Industrial’s strategic goals, while building its go-to-market and operational capabilities to increase customer focus and satisfaction.

Watts has held leadership roles working with automation integrators to meet the diverse needs of automotive OEMs and their Tier 1 suppliers, along with positions of progressive responsibility and executive leadership at Dematic Corp. for over six years. Most recently, he served as the company’s global chief operating officer overseeing project engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance and additional operations with approximately 3,500 employees globally. His experience with Dematic, a leading provider of intelligent automated solutions for manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, also includes serving as CEO, Americas, where he oversaw operations with 1,500 employees generating over $1.5B in revenue. 

Watts holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration & Accounting from Central Michigan University and a Master of Business Administration in International Business from Michigan State University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at Ascential Technologies. 

The new Specialty Industrial Division serves a variety of markets including automotive, aviation, metalworking, appliance, electric motors and more with automated assembly and testing solutions that ensure safety and performance of the product. Solutions encompass end-of-line-testing across vehicles including environmental compliance and onboard diagnostics, as well as equipment for balancing, vibrations, non-destructive, leak, hydraulic, and electrical and performance testing.
