Ascential Tech is opening a 100,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Blaine later this month, with plans to employ up to 150 workers.
Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Ascential Technologies (formerly known as Burke Porter Group) develops diagnostics, inspection and test processes across various industries, including med-tech, transportation and specialty industrial markets. Ascential’s customers include big tech names such as 3M, Abbott, Boston Scientific, Electrolux, GM, Medtronic, Thermo Fisher Scientific and Volkswagen. Ascential employs more than 2,300 people across 40 locations globally. The facility at 8700 W 35W Service Drive plans to run production of medical products and devices.
Peter Frosch, president and CEO of the Greater MSP Partnership, said in a statement that Ascential's new facility is an investment and commitment to Minnesota's growth in medical device technologies.
“Companies like Ascential Technologies help distinguish our region as a global med-tech hotspot,” Frosch said.
Ascential said that it wants to help companies seeking to bring manufacturing back from overseas production, using automation to help keep costs competitive
“As healthcare demand for advanced medical and life sciences products continues to rise, we recognize the importance of bolstering domestic manufacturing capabilities,” said Scott Watts, president of Ascential Medical & Life Sciences, in a statement.
“We enable businesses to repatriate manufacturing capabilities, leading to the creation of jobs, economic revitalization, and a resurgence of American manufacturing," Watts continued.
